Harrisonburg's New Year's Party

Make plans to ring in the New Year with thousands of your friends and neighbors in downtown Harrisonburg. The opening ceremonies will kick off at 6:00 p.m. and continue until Midnight. Entertainment will include children's activities, music performances in venues downtown, a fireworks show over Court Square, and more!
 

Admission

Admission to all First Night venues, performances, and activities requires the purchase of a First Night button. Presale buttons are on sale and available at the following locations locations.
 

  • Daily News-Record: 231 South Liberty St
  • Summit Bank: 224 South Main St
  • Tourism Office – Hardesty-Higgins House: 212 S. Main
  • Massanutten Regional Library: 174 South Main St
  • Downtown Books: 49 W Water Street, Suite B
  • Downtown Music 34: 34 South Main St
  • Friendly City Food Co-op: 150 East Wolfe S
  • Glen’s Fair Price Store: 227 North Main St
  • Red Front Super Market: 677 Chicago Ave
  • Massanutten Resort General Store, adjacent to the Ski Lodge
  • Stonewall Jackson Inn and Bed & Breakfast, 547 East Market St

On December 31 at 5:00 PM, buttons may be purchased at the First Night Headquarters located at the Ritchie Law Firm Office, 71 Court Square, downtown Harrisonburg.

Buttons/Tickets to all programs:

  • Presale: $6.00
  • At the Event: $8.00

Attendees are encouraged to wear the button on the outside of their clothing to expedite entry into venues and activities throughout downtown.

Street Closings & Parking

On December 31st, Main Street will be closed from Franklin to Wolfe Street. Court Square will also be closed.  Beginning at 2:00 p.m. - only the left lane of Main Street and Liberty Street will be closed for the Generations Crossing 5K. Then, at 4:30 p.m., all of Main Street will be closed for the rest of the First Night Activities.  

Parking will available in the Water Street and Elizabeth Street parking decks. The Water street parking deck will be accessible from Water Street only for the lower level or Liberty Street for the upper level.

The Elizabeth Street parking deck will be open and accessible from Mason Street via Wolfe St. or Elizabeth St.  To view a map of the streets that will be closed and where the venues are located, click here.
